Soal Toefl kadang menuntut Anda untuk menyimpulkan informasi mengenai apa, siapa dan dimana. Ada beberapa langkah yang perlu Anda perhatikan:

1. Gambarkan kesimpulan dari dialog

Identifying Who

Dalam rekaman, Anda mendengar:

Man : What do you do during your performances?

Woman : I play thepianoand sing.

Narrator: Who is the woman most likely to be?

A. An athlete.

B. A member of the audience.

C. A clerck in a music store.

D. A musician.

Pada percakapan ini, the man menginformasikan dia: play the piano and sing.

Kegiatan memainkan piano dan bernyanyi adalah kegiatan yang sering dilakukan musisi, (D) A musician.

Identifying What in Passive statement

Man : Is that a new chair?

Woman : Yes, we just bought it last week.

Narrator: What does the woman mean?

A. She brought the chair with her.

B. The chair was lost for a week.

C. The chair was purchased recently.

D. She bought the last chair from the store.

Pada percakapan ini, the woman menggunakan kalimat aktif: We bought it last week.

Karena pernyataannya berupa kalimat aktif maka pilihan jawabannya biasanya berupa kalimat pasif, (C) The chair was purchased.

Identifying Where

Man : I'd like to open an account, please.

Woman : What type of account would you like, a checking or savings account?

Narrator: Where does this conversation probably take place?

A. In an accounting class.

B. In a Bank.

D. In a market.
