Some tips strategies for short dialogues are:

1. As you listen to the last line of the dialogue, you should focus on the key idea(s) in that line.

2. If you see a restatement of the key idea(s) in a particular answer, then you have probably found the correct answer.

3. Do not choose answers with words that sound similar to the words on the recording.

Focus on the last line

Man : Can you tell me if todya's matinee is a comedy, romance, or western?

Woman : I have no idea.

Narrator: What does the woman mean?

A. She has strong ideas about movies.

B. She prefers comedies over westerns and romances.

C. She doesn't like today's matinee.

D. She does not know.

Choose answer with synonym

Woman : Steve, is something the matter? You don't look very good.

Man : Oh, I'm feeling a little sicktoday.

Narrator: What does the man mean?

A. He's not very good looking.

B. He's a bit ill.

C. He looks worse than he feels.

D. His feet are a little thick.

Avoid similar sound

Man : I've never had this type of fruit before. I don't even know what to do with it.

Woman : You just have topeelit and eat it.

Narrator: What does the woman mean?

A. She doesn't feel like eating fruit.

B. The man should take the pill before eating.

C. The fruit shouldn't be eaten until it's been peeled.

D. She isn't familiar with this type of fruit either.
